OVERVIEW

Interaction between soil and the foundation plays a vital role in the adequate assessment of forces and stresses in the superstructure as well as soil. There are many methods with considerable assumptions to assess the soil stiffnesses that can be applied as spring support to the foundation. But in most methods, the spring supports are linear in nature and cannot be accounted for higher strains. So, for heavy structures such as bridges and high-rise buildings, consideration of the soil continuum as plastic material is necessary.

This online session focuses on using a Direct Method wherein the soil continuum is modeled along with the superstructure. The interaction between the pile and soil will be modeled using Pile Interface Element in GTS NX. The Pile Tip element will be used to model the End Bearing.

In this 1 hour program, we will demonstrate how to import a building from Midas Gen to GTS NX and model interaction between soil and the pile raft foundation.

All the different training examples through the webinar sessions and certification tasks are designed to enhance the understanding of training. Engineering professionals and graduates are invited to attend this course for free.
